[02/08/2024 05:49]

MUKALLA - SABA
Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi paid an inspection visit on Friday to a number of infrastructure projects whose foundation stones were laid during his previous visit to the city of Al-Mukalla in Hadramout Governorate.

During the field visits, which were accompanied by the Governor of Hadramout, Mabkhout bin Madhi, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council was briefed on the level of progress in the project to expand the main Mukalla Street in the al-Salam Neighborhood, extending to the Martyr's Neighborhood, which is being implemented by the Baqudaim Contracting Foundation at the expense of the local authority in the governorate.

The project is expected to relieve traffic congestion and present the capital of Hadhramout with a suitable tourist and investment appearance, as well as contribute to facilitating movement to and from the port of Mukalla.

The project includes the expansion of the main street of Mukalla for a length of 2 kilometers and 200 meters in both directions, including a breakwater, pedestrian walkways, a maritime tongue, and parking lots, as well as the implementation of a parallel corniche with intermittent extensions to the coastal road, where the completion rate is about 60 percent.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council also inspected the second phase of the Mukalla Tourist Creek Project, which is being implemented by the Yemeni al-Amoudi Group for Contracting and Commerce Limited, with a completion rate of 45% for concrete structures and 85% for the water channel.

The second phase of the Mukalla Creek project includes digging a water channel with a length of 850 meters and a total area of 47,150 square meters, with a variable width between 60 meters and 50 meters.

The project consists of two bridges with lengths of 165 meters and 70 meters respectively, in addition to parking lots, green areas, and tourist recreational areas.

President al-Alimi also inspected the project of opening and paving the middle circular line of the city of Mukalla as one of the vital infrastructure projects to relieve the pressure of weights and traffic movement for the eastern entrance to the city of Mukalla, and to facilitate the passage of commercial tractors through the city.

The officials at the Office of the Ministry of Public Works and Roads in Hadhramaut, the Coast, reviewed the components of the project and the implementation process, which has reached 93% completion.

The project's route is 4.4 kilometers long and leads to the important project of opening and paving al-Ghalila - al-Maqlab - Ambeekhah Road, which is 11 kilometers long, connecting the city of Mukalla with the Fuwah area and the city's neighborhoods without passing through the old neighborhoods, contributing to relieving congestion.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council listened to an additional explanation from the Governor of Hadhramaut and the executive officials about the level of accomplishment in the rest of the projects, including the project of opening and paving the (al-Ma'awes Rabwah- Khalaf) Road, which is 2.2 kilometers long, as one of the strategic projects linking the neighborhoods of the city of Mukalla and Rabwah Khalaf, where all construction work has been completed.

The briefing included a presentation of the projects being implemented with funding from the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction in Yemen, which are progressing well, including the commencement of maintenance and renovation work at the land port of al-Wade'ah.

Work is also underway on education and water projects powered by solar energy systems in the coastal and valley districts, in addition to the completion of numerous executive studies for projects in the public works and electricity sectors, whose tenders are expected to be announced soon.
