The Ministry of Human Rights strongly condemned the Houthi militia's military escalation in Taiz, including artillery, missile and drone attacks targeting residential areas, displacement camps and civilian facilities in the districts of Maqbanah, Jabal Habashi, Al-Kadaha and Al-Dhabab.

The ministry condemned the killing of citizen Fouad Muqbel Hassan, who was shot dead by a Houthi sniper outside his home in Shubayyah area of Maqbanah district.

It also denounced the shelling of Kareem School in Al-Wazi'iyah district with a missile during school hours, damaging the facility and endangering students.

The ministry further condemned attacks on gatherings of displaced people at Al-Rahbah, Al-Rajhi and Wadi Al-Hanayah camps using artillery and machine guns, forcing dozens of displaced families to flee their shelters again.

It said the targeting of civilians, displacement camps and educational facilities, along with indiscriminate fire in populated areas, constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and may amount to war crimes.

The ministry held the Houthi militia fully responsible for the deaths, destruction, displacement and continued threats facing civilians, including women, children and displaced persons.

It called on the international community, the United Nations and relevant human rights organizations to clearly condemn the attacks, protect civilians, hold perpetrators accountable and end impunity.

The ministry reaffirmed the Yemeni government's commitment to protecting civilians and said it would continue documenting violations and pursuing accountability and justice for victims.
