His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) stated that any approach to put an end of the war in Yemen will never be successful, unless it deals with the Houthi militias as part of an Iranian cross-border scheme, and not as a local political party, warning that reducing any crisis of this kind to truces and arrangements for a ceasefire will lead to temporary risk management rather than building sustainable peace.

Tariq Saleh, British Ambassador discuss strengthening cooperation between Yemen, United Kingdom

RIYADH - SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Tariq Saleh discussed with the United Kingdom Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop existing cooperation in the political, economic and security fields.

The meeting discussed the remarkable improvement in the performance of the government and the Central Bank, and its positive repercussions on the stability of the exchange rate and commodity prices, in addition to the importance of regional and international support to sustain this improvement and complete economic and financial reform programs.

The two parties also discussed the threats posed by the terrorist Houthi militia to international peace and security and the security of navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, and the Iranian role in supporting these activities, stressing the importance of working to combat arms smuggling and enhance Yemen's capabilities to protect its territorial waters.

Tariq Saleh expressed his appreciation for the United Kingdom's positions in support of the Leadership Council and the government, especially in the field of strengthening the capabilities of the Coast Guard.

For her part, Ambassador Abda Sharif affirmed her country's continued support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, praising progress on economic reforms and efforts to restore stability.
