MARIB - SABA
The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), Governor of Marib governorate Sultan al-Arada stressed that Yemen today needs a more effective international partnership to support state institutions and upgrade their capacities in order to manage security, economic and humanitarian challenges.
He made his statement during a video call today, Thursday, with the Acting US Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Neil Hopp.
They conferred over the military, political, security and economic developments amid the ongoing regional events and their impact on the security and stability of Yemen and the region.
The talks covered developments in Yemen and the government's efforts aimed to deal with current challenges, amid the continued escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias and their attacks on the state institutions and critical facilities.
Al-Arada made it clear that the security of the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb is a shared responsibility and that protecting freedom of navigation and global trade routes requires doubling political and economic pressure on the militias, cutting off their funding and weapons supplies, and draining the sources of terrorism.
The PLC's Member highlighted the importance of supporting the national economy, maintaining currency stability, enhancing the government's ability to deliver on its obligations and improve basic services.
The Acting U.S. Ambassador reaffirmed Washington's supportive stance in support of the PLC and the government.
He stated that his administration is going to continue supporting state institutions and strengthening their capabilities to tackle security, economic and humanitarian challenges, while maintaining Yemen's security, stability, unity and territorial integrity.
