Speaker of Parliament Discusses Yemen’s Developments with British Ambassador

RIYADH – SABA
Speaker of the Parliament Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani met with the UK Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif.

He discussed with her latest national and regional developments and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

Al-Barakani praised Britain’s support for Yemen’s constitutional legitimacy and its positions at the UN Security Council, particularly its condemnation of Houthi attacks targeting civilians and threatening international navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait.

He accused the Houthi militias of serving Iranian agendas and obstructing peace efforts, stressing that ending the Houthi coup and restoring state institutions requires unified national efforts, firm international support, and the restoration of Sana’a to government control.

The Speaker of the Parliament also expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Yemen and its security, stability, unity and territorial integrity.

For her part, the British ambassador condemned Houthi attacks against civilians and maritime navigation, highlighting coordination between Iran and the Houthis.

She reaffirmed the UK’s support for Yemen’s constitutional legitimacy and its commitment to working with international partners to help end Yemen’s suffering and achieve security and stability.
