Yemen's Ambassador to Ottawa Jamal al-Sallal discussed wednesday with the Acting Head of the Middle East Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sharon Beek who is also the Executive Director of the Middle East Development Program at Canada’s International Development Agency, the developments and updates on the Yemeni situation, the humanitarian situation and peace efforts.
Ambassador al-Sallal praised Canada’s support for the Yemeni people and its legitimate government during these exceptional circumstances Yemen is facing.
He expressed hope for an increase in Canadian humanitarian assistance allocated to Yemen for 2025, highlighting the need for additional support for the humanitarian response plan.
He noted Yemen's need for more developmental support, particularly in renewable energy and electricity.
For her part, the Canadian official confirmed her country’s support for the legitimate government in Yemen, as well as the efforts of the United Nations and the Special Envoy to achieve peace that ends the suffering of the Yemeni people, while reiterating Canada’s continued humanitarian support for Yemen.
