Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Braik chaired a government meeting to discuss the damage caused by recent floods in several governorates and the necessary measures to deal with their effects. The meeting reviewed urgent plans to protect citizens, agricultural lands, and infrastructure, and stressed the need for concerted efforts to combat climate change.

The Prime Minister emphasized that random construction in flood channels is a major cause of exacerbated damage and losses. He directed the government to take strict measures to prevent these practices and develop safe urban plans that account for environmental and climate risks.

The meeting approved the commencement of the waterway project in the Wadi Al-Kabir area in Aden, which aims to drain rainwater and protect citizens from potential disasters. It also stressed the need to remove random works and encroachments within the Wadi Al-Kabir area and preserve it according to the master plan.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of an integrated national approach to confronting climate change, combining emergency plans and long-term strategic visions. He directed ministries and local authorities to quickly assess damage and submit reports to ensure an effective response and enhance coordination with international partners.

The meeting emphasized the need to intensify governmental and local efforts to develop humanitarian response programs and build national capacities to manage disaster risks and climate change. The government offered its condolences to the families of the victims and reaffirmed its commitment to alleviating the suffering of citizens in affected areas.
