Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ahmed Bin Mubarak held talks today with the US special envoy to Yemen Timothy Lenderking over the developments and underway efforts to make peace.
The discussions covered a range of topics including the ongoing efforts aiming to make peace, the humanitarian situation, Safer oil tanker problem and the implementation of Riyadh Agreement.
Bin Mubark reiterated the Yemeni government commitment to achieve a comprehensive and suitable peace based on the three terms of reference. He blamed Houthi militia for blocking peace efforts, prolonging the conflict and worsening the humanitarian crisis.
He also held Houthi militia fully accountable for Safer oil tanker's looming environmental disaster as the militia has continued to turn down all suggestions intended to get the problem resolved before it is too late.
The Foreign Minister underscored the need for supporting the Yemeni government to do its job and to get Riyadh Agreement implemented in full, namely the articles pertaining to security and military status.
The US envoy stated that it is important for the Houthis to stop all military operations on Marib and refrain from the actions
which destabilize security in Yemen.
Lenderking affirmed his country's support for the legitimate government, Yemen's unity, security and stability.
