President al-Alimi calls on International Community to sustain livelihoods in Yemen
[07/11/2022 08:35]
SHARM EL-SHEIKH - SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Council, called on the International Community to act immediately to help ending the Yemeni people's suffering, re-build its cities, protect Yemen's ecosystem diversity, its environmental resources and revive its colorful culture.

Speaking today, Monday, at the United Nations Climate Change Summit COP27, held in the Egyptian SHARM EL-SHEIKH City, he said" The humanitarian civilization owed to Yemen great deal of the World's cultural heritage including environmental legacy, so it is high time to respond to the Yemeni parents who are desperately looking forward to see their children move safely to a future promising of hope in which their civilized and environmental heritage is protected".

The President cited the climate changes drastic consequences upon the Yemeni environmental security including food and water security and the economic and livelihood resources, even though Yemen is responsible for the least amount of the emissions, if any.

He went on saying Yemen has always been one of the most vulnerable country for draught in the region, a matter may be key reason for internal fighting over water and land, there are also high risks of depleting the underground water revivers, meanwhile sea water level is very likely to rise up, threatening the lives and livelihoods of the population of the coastal regions.

President al-Alim called on the world's leaders to support the ongoing efforts aiming to restore the Yemeni state's institutions, given that Yemen is a member of the United Nations, help the Yemeni government to reduce the consequences of the Houthi terrorist militias' practices including turning Yemen into the largest landmines field in the world since the Second World War, and foot-dragging about handling Safer Oil Tanker's problem.
