[09/09/2026 05:41]

ADEN – SABA
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed al-Faqmi today discussed with the Acting UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen Laurent Bukera ways to enhance cooperation, coordination, and partnership between the Yemeni government and the United Nations.

The meeting, attended by Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Nizar Basuhaib and Assistant Undersecretary Mansour Zaid, reviewed the new development cooperation framework and the importance of aligning it with the government’s priorities and the National Development Plan 2027–2029.

This would help unify efforts, avoid duplication of frameworks and programs, and strengthen the government’s role in leading and coordinating development efforts.

The two sides also discussed mobilizing development resources and financing, as well as mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation and data sharing.

They stressed the importance of ensuring that the Ministry regularly receives reports on activities, funding, and beneficiaries, in a way that strengthens mutual accountability and the effectiveness of interventions.

They also underscored the need to provide urgent humanitarian and relief assistance to internally displaced people from areas affected by clashes in the governorates of Taiz, Hudaydah, and Al Bayda.

The meeting further addressed strengthening the government’s role in designing, implementing, and monitoring the Humanitarian Response Plan, as well as closing the funding gap.

The sides also discussed the latest developments concerning unconditional cash transfer programs, stressing the importance of resuming support for beneficiary families and addressing cases where assistance has been suspended.

The meeting emphasized the importance of relocating the offices of UN organizations and agencies to Aden and the need to establish a clear timetable for completing the relocation process, in order to facilitate their operations, strengthen coordination, and ensure direct access to government authorities.

Both sides affirmed the importance of continuing dialogue and joint coordination to improve the efficiency of aid and enhance its developmental and humanitarian impact in Yemen.
