UN Envoy announcement two-month truce welcomed regionally, internationally

The announcement about two-month truce by the UN's Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg has received world-wide welcome regionally and internationally.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), the State of Kuwait, Oman, Algeria the USA, UK and Arab League and the GCC all have welcomed the announcement of two-month humanitarian truce in Yemen.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) carried out a statement reads" The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's welcome to the announcement made by the UN Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, Mr. Hans Grundberg to start a truce through which all forms of military operations inside Yemen and on the Saudi-Yemeni borders shall be halted".

The UAE also welcomed the announcement a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) reads" the UAE welcomed the announcement by the Yemeni government and the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, to accept the truce, stressing its support for all efforts made by the Special Envoy to enhance prospects for peace and stability in Yemen and the region".

The United Kingdom has welcomed the truce, a statement issued by the British Foreign Ministry as the best opportunity to alleviate the Yemeni peoples' suffering following seven year of war and to improve regional stability.

The American President Joe Biden is reported to have welcomed the truce, describing it as a significant, but is enough, stressing the importance of respecting the ceasefire and ending the war.
