Hadi meets G-20 ambassadors accredited to Yemen
[10/11/2019 01:54]

RIYADH - SABA
President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi met in the Saudi capital on Monday the G20 ambassadors accredited to Yemen as part of the communications with their countries.

Hadi reviewed the latest developments and challenges including those related to the Saudi-brokered Riyadh Agreement which the government and the Southern Transitional Council signed last Tuesday.

The Agreement provides for integrating the STC forces into the regular armed forces to unify their ranks in firming up security and liberating the territories still under the control of the Houthi coup militia.

"Our source of optimism is our confidence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, their seriousness and keenness to implement (the Agreement)," said Hadi, appreciating the Saudi leadership's work to secure the success of the agreement as well as the brothers in the UAE, and to limit arms to the state alone and disrupt the opportunity of those plotting against Yemen, external forces and terrorist groups.

He added, "We need your support to implement the agreement in its specific times, and we have started to do so by issuing directives to all state organs to immediately start implementing it."

The President pointed to the Stockholm Agreement between the government and Houthi militants, saying the first anniversary of the deal is approaching while no significant progress on it is achieved yet.

"This requires an explicit review by the sponsoring countries to find out the reasons why the deal is not materializing and name the party obstructing the implementation,"
he said

"We want this agreement to be a good starting point to arrive at a comprehensive solution, despite the indifference of the Houthi coup militia to the humanitarian situation and their exploitation of the humanitarian plight" for their own advantage.

The G20 ambassadors congratulated Hadi and the Yemeni people on the signing of the Riyadh Agreement and the efforts of Saudi Arabia and the UAE to contribute effectively establish security and stability and achieve peace that the Yemeni people aspire to.

They affirmed that the signing of the agreement in Riyadh is a historic step and represents an achievement that Yemen needs in such circumstances to build on it to achieve comprehensive peace in accordance with the three terms of reference.
