Yemen Calls for Unified Arab Strategy to Protect Trade Routes

Yemen called for a unified Arab strategy to address trade wars and threats to international shipping routes, warning of risks posed by Iran and its militias to Arab economic and food security.

Industry and Trade Minister Mohammed al-Ashwal made the remarks at the 118th ministerial session of the Arab Economic and Social Council in Cairo.

He warned that Houthi missile and drone attacks on Mokha city and port threaten the security of the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait, as well as international navigation and trade.

The session also discussed Arab economic integration, food security, trade cooperation, and support for Yemen's industrial and commercial institute to strengthen exports as part of reconstruction and economic recovery efforts.
