Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed al-Faqmi held separate meetings in Aden on Wednesday with representatives of UN agencies to discuss strengthening humanitarian coordination and support for displaced people.

Faqmi met with World Food Programme (WFP) Country Director Al-Khader Daloum to discuss joint cooperation and ways to increase funding for humanitarian and development interventions, with a focus on food security, livelihoods and support for vulnerable groups.

The meeting also addressed urgent humanitarian needs among displaced people, particularly those living in camps, including food assistance and cash support, as well as directing available funding toward priority projects.

Faqmi stressed the need for closer coordination between the government and international partners to ensure a swift response to the needs of displaced people and improve essential camp services, including food, water, health and protection, while ensuring assistance reaches those most in need.

The minister also met with UNICEF Acting Representative in Yemen Akil Ayar to discuss joint efforts to strengthen the humanitarian response and address the consequences of the crisis, particularly displacement.

The talks covered expanding UNICEF programs in line with humanitarian needs and national priorities, especially multi-sectoral programs, and strengthening cooperation with government agencies to ensure vulnerable people have access to essential services and assistance.

Faqmi further met with UN Women Representative in Yemen Dina Zorba to discuss strengthening partnership and supporting women's issues through development programs and projects.

The two sides underscored the importance of integrating women's needs into development and humanitarian response plans and supporting women's participation in economic and social recovery efforts, particularly for displaced women and girls and those most affected by the humanitarian crisis.
