Qatar Strongly Condemns Targeting of Its Territory and Affirms Right to Respond
[28/02/2026 12:35]
DOHA-SABA
The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the targeting of its territory with Iranian ballistic missiles, describing the attack as a flagrant violation of its national sovereignty, a direct threat to its security and territorial integrity, and an unacceptable escalation that endangers regional peace and stability.

In a statement carried by the Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Qatar “reserves its full right to respond to this targeting in accordance with the provisions of international law and in a manner proportionate to the nature of the aggression, in defense of its sovereignty and in protection of its security and national interests.”

The statement added that Qatar has consistently been among the foremost advocates of dialogue with the Islamic Republic of Iran, maintaining that dialogue remains the optimal foundation for resolving differences and settling disputes through peaceful means, while sparing the region the risks of escalation.

The ministry stressed that targeting Qatari territory contradicts the principles of good neighborliness and cannot be justified under any pretext.

It noted that Qatar has always sought to distance itself from regional conflicts and has worked to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the international community.

However, the renewed targeting of its territory, the statement said, does not reflect good faith and threatens the foundations of understanding underpinning bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also condemned the violation of the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Kingdom of Bahrain in what it described as Iranian aggression.

It affirmed Qatar’s full solidarity with these sisterly nations in any measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty, security, and stability.

Qatar renewed its call for the immediate cessation of any escalatory actions, a return to the negotiating table, and the prioritization of reason and wisdom, urging efforts to contain the crisis in a manner that preserves regional security, protects the interests of its peoples, and prevents a slide into broader confrontation.
