[26/08/2026 05:48]
Tashkent — SABA

The International Media Forum under the theme “Islamic Civilization: A New Vision, New Discoveries” commenced at the Grand Conference Hall of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, convened at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Bringing together nearly 300 media professionals and experts from 50 countries, the forum examined ways to revitalize the presentation of Islamic civilization and underscored the media’s responsibility in illuminating the enduring legacy of Islamic heritage.

In his opening remarks, Sherzod Asadov, Press Secretary to the President of Uzbekistan, described the forum as a vital Islamic platform for introducing and disseminating a centuries-old heritage that belongs to all of humanity.

He called on participants to coordinate efforts to bring this legacy to a global audience and to assume responsbility for its preservation. He added that the forum offers a valuable opportunity for cross-cultural exchange, enabling countries to share expertise and develop contemporary approaches to presenting Islamic civilization.

Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, emphasized the need to modernize the ways in which Islamic heritage is comunicated, in line with global developments. He outlined the Center’s role as a modern international hub that integrates historical heritage, scholarship, museology, and contemporary media.

For his part, Klaus Strunz, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of the Oronio network, advocated for deeper information exchange between Europe and Central Asia. He argued that media must do more than facilitate information flow between nations and societies; it should also serve as a bridge for dialogue.

He noted that strengthened media ties between the two regions could unlock new prospects for economic, cultural, and social cooperation.
