WASHINGTON - SABA
The U.S. State Department announced Tuesday the imposition of new sanctions on Tehran targeting an international network that facilitates the smuggling of millions of barrels of Iranian oil and uses the proceeds to develop ballistic missiles, drones, and support the terrorist Houthi militias.
State Department spokesperson Tami Bruce stated in a press release, "Washington has today imposed sanctions on an international network that facilitates the shipment of millions of barrels of Iranian crude oil, worth billions of dollars to China, on behalf of the Iranian Armed Forces General Staff and its front company (Sepehr Energy)."
She added: "The proceeds from these sales are used to develop ballistic missiles and drones, to spread nuclear weapons and to support Iran's terrorist proxies, including Houthi attacks on shipping vessels in the Red Sea."
Tami Bruce emphasized that the United States will continue to take actions to exert maximum pressure on the Iranian regime to deny it access to resources that fuel its destabilizing activities.
