The Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development signed Thursday a Grant Agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) worth $1.2 million to contribute to the rehabilitation and maintenance of homes for displaced persons in Yemen.

Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik affirmed that the government attaches special importance to the human rights issue and believes that the basic approach to dealing with human rights violations is to restore the work of state institutions and authorities in accordance with national laws.
He made the remarks during a speech at the 40th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) at the Palais des Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland today.
Abdulmalik referred to the government's continuous efforts to improve the human rights situation, through activating the work of the Technical Committee in charge of addressing child soldier recruitment and rehabilitating ex-child soldiers and through the adoption of a national plan for the implementation of Security Council resolutions relating to security and peace.
"The war that ensued the Houthi coup of September 2014 is the result of a failure of the different political parties to reach a settlement," he said.
He said that the war was rather the result of the Houthi terrorist invasion of villages and cities including the capital Sana'a.
