Ministry of Health Discusses with UNFPA Strengthening Protection, Health Response Interventions
[07/09/2026 05:09]

ADEN – SABA
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Health and Population for the Population Sector, Dr. Abdulraqeeb al-Haidari discussedonday with the protection team from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) protection interventions implemented through partners.

The meeting reviewed the current protection interventions and activities, particularly those addressing protection and gender-based violence, and highlighted the importance of organizing these interventions and linking them to the Ministry of Health’s priorities and the needs of targeted health facilities and communities.

This would contribute to improving the quality of the response and ensuring that services reach the most vulnerable and underserved groups.

The meeting also discussed enhancing the exchange of information on partners’ interventions and areas of operation, and developing joint monitoring and coordination mechanisms. These efforts would help the Ministry develop a clear overview of the services being provided, identify existing gaps, and direct interventions toward priority needs.

Dr. al-Haidari reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the health response to protection-related issues, building the capacities of health workers, and developing referral pathways and coordination mechanisms between health facilities and partners.

He stressed the need for interventions by organizations to form part of an integrated response led by the Ministry, based on actual needs, avoiding duplication, and achieving a tangible and sustainable impact.
