[15/01/2026 04:59]

RIYADH-SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) restated that the Houthi terrorist militias are the grass-root of destruction and it will continue to make Yemen a platform that threatens regional and international security, including global trade routes.

"Any international approach that ignores this reality or equates the state with the militias will never lead to sustainable peace, but rather to the reproduction of the crisis", he stressed.

He made his statement during his talks today, Thursday, the Head of the European Union (EU) Mission in the Republic of Yemen Patrick Simonet.

They conferred over cooperation, partnership relations, the latest developments on the national scene and the needed EU support for the Yemeni government efforts aimed to manage economic hardships, improve basic services and regain confidence in international financial institutions.

The President praised the European political, humanitarian and development support, particularly the support for the humanitarian response plan, noting that it represents a vital lifeline for millions of Yemenis amid one of the most complex humanitarian crises in the world.
The President also addressed the recent developments and events on the Yemeni national arena and the sovereign decisions aimed to restore state institutions, enhance unified sovereign decision-making and the strategic partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on all levels.

He highly appreciated the key role that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plays in supporting constitutional legitimacy, overseeing efforts to de-escalate tensions and supporting the political, economic and humanitarian process.

President al-Alimi restated that the stability of Yemen is no longer an internal matter, but rather an important issue for the security of international navigation, energy security and supply chains, as well as boosting efforts to combat terrorism and irregular migration.

He also reiterated that the southern issue is a just cause that cannot be resolved by force or unilateral representation, referring to the arrangements underway to hold an inclusive South-South dialogue under the gracious auspices of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Chairman of the PLC highlighted the need for an active European role in supporting the government's efforts to address economic challenges and the requirements of comprehensive economic, financial and administrative reforms.
