His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) confirmed the state's full support for the work of the National Commission to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations (NCIAHRV) and the political leadership's commitment to protecting public rights and freedoms.
His remark came his conversations today, Thursday, with the leadership of the NCIAHRV headed by Judge Ahmed Saeed al-Muflehi.
He reiterated his commitment to providing institutional facilities and legal protection to enable the committee to carry out its tasks, affirming that the committee's reports have formed a key reference for national authorities and international partners in understanding the human rights situation in Yemen.
The President applauded the committee's efforts during the recent events in the governorates of Hadhramaut and al-Mahra.
He highlighted the importance of providing full protection for victims, whistleblowers, witnesses, as well as committee members and staff, considering that uncovering the truth and protecting witnesses is an essential condition for justice and national reconciliation.
The Chairman of the PLC urged the committee to broaden the scope of its investigations regarding illegal prisons, in accordance with the legal framework and its competencies.
He stated that the state is committed dismantling the system of impunity, particularly the criminal network associated with the Houthi militias, and to building a state based on law and institutions.
