Yemen's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Abdullah al-Sa'adi discussed Wednesday with UN resident representative in Yemen, the Coordinator of the United Nations, Humanitarian Coordinator William David Gresley latest political, humanitarian and economic developments in Yemen, including challenges facing relief work.

" Houthi attacks on Marib and targeting civilians and displaced people camps by ballistic rockets and drones complicate humanitarian suffering of Yemeni people," said al-Sa'adi, confirming that continuous Houthi militia's violations contradict international humanitarian law and international law of human rights and create new waves of displacement as this will make it difficult to international organization to provide their help and relief.

He added that the international community should denounce these violations and call the Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities to exert pressure on Iran-backed Houthi militia to accept complete ceasefire and resumption of political process.

He confirmed significance of exerting utmost pressure on Houthi militia to allow to the UN technical team doing maintenance work to Safir Oil Tanker to avoid environmental, humanitarian and economic disaster resulting from oil leak from the tanker or its explosion.

For his part, the UN official confirmed that the United Nations exerts all efforts to alleviate humanitarian suffering and the organization is currently doing inclusive study on country level to define needs accurately to be finished early forthcoming year.

He pointed out that his recent visits to Taiz, Marib, Hodeida and Sayoon helped him evaluate the situation directly as he saw suffering of civilians like in Taiz, which its people suffer from Houthi siege on the city and difficulty of transportation.
