The Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Yemen Hans Grundberg announced that the Yemeni parties have come to commit themselves to adhere to a set of measures including a comprehensive cease-fire all over Yemen, practical measures to improve the living conditions and an engagement in the preparations to resume an inclusive political process under the auspices of the UN.

Mr. Grundberge said in a statement today, Saturday, that he would work with the parties in the current stage to work out a road map guided by the UN. The road map is set to include these commitments and sustain the implementation of them.

The statement noted that the road map will include the commitment of the parties to establish a comprehensive cease-fire throughout the country, pay salaries of all public sector employees, resume oil exports, open the roads in Taiz and other parts of Yemen, keep on easing the imposed restrictions upon Sana'a airport and Hodieda seaport.

The statement added that the road map will also establish mechanisms to prepare and carry out a political process led by the Yemenis under the guidance of the UN.

Mr. Grundberg expressed his deep appreciation for the effective roles of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman in supporting the parties to reach to this point. He urged all parties to exercise utmost self-restraint at this critical time to create a helpful environment for the dialogue and help to get an agreement about the road map accomplished.

The UN Envoy said" Thirty million Yemenis are watching and looking forward to see this new chance produce tangible progress toward a permanent peace.
