Foreign Minister holds talks with Somali counterpart

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr . Ahmed bin Mubarak, discussed today in Mogadishu with his Somali counterpart, Absher Omar, the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them, especially those related to the convening of the joint committee for economic, scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries, which was established in 2013.

They also discussed granting more consular facilities to the communities in both countries and raising the level of cooperation and coordination in the security fields and combating terrorism, illegal immigration and piracy.

During the meeting, Dr. Bin Mubarak reviewed the practices of the terrorist Houthi militia and its crimes against the Yemeni people, the repercussions of its escalation and threats on the humanitarian crisis and the economic situation in our country, and the repercussions of its racist ideas and extremist ideology on the peoples of the region, their security and their future.

He pointed to the Houthi terrorist militia's rejection of all calls for calm and peace efforts, despite all the concessions made by the legitimate government out of its keenness to stop the suffering of the Yemeni people.

Achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the agreed terms of reference. For his part, the Somali Foreign Minister affirmed his country's condemnation of the Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and their threats to international shipping lanes, expressing his aspiration to upgrade the relations of the two countries to the required levels, reflecting the strength of the relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.

He affirmed Somalia's solidarity with all the efforts made by the legitimate authorities in Yemen to end the war and achieve the peace sought by the Yemeni people, and for everything that would preserve Yemen's security, stability and territorial integrity.
