RIYADH-SABA
Yemen's government is seeking peace by all means, working toward that goal with the Arab and international peace loving parties, while the coup militants, in return, shirk all ways that may lead to it (peace), Dep. Premier and Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhalfi has said.
In a phone conversation with his Algerian counterpart Abdul-Qader Mosahel, Yemen's minister said his government has been pursuing peace through the three references, which will constitute the core of political settlement that stops further bloodshed and live taking; the GCC Initiative, the National Dialogue outcomes and the relevant UN resolutions, especially resolution 2216.
"The humanitarian situation in Yemen has become far worse, especially where the coup militia take control. Which aggravated the rate of poverty and unemployment; made the scourge of famine loom large; and spread diseases, like cholera, deteriorations that usher in a humanitarian catastrophe that Yemen and its friends are seeking to prevent. "
He also said that Yemen appreciates the UN Special Envoy Ismail Old Cheikh's efforts toward achieving settlement.
On his part, the Algerian minister affirmed his country's support for Yemen's unity, territorial integrity and for the achievement of political solution based on the three mentioned references.
He praised the Yemeni government's humanitarian efforts and expressed Algeria's continued solidarity with the Yemeni government and people until the country restores its peace and security back.
The two ministers' discussions covered the Yemeni-Algerian relationships, means of enhancing them and the developments and challenges on a regional level.
The Algerian minister also offered an vitiation to al-Mikhlafi to visit Algeria.
