The Islamic Republic of Pakistan reaffirmed its firm support for Yemen's sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and prosperity, as well as its support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Pakistani Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Asim Ahmad said during the UN Security Council session on Yemen: "The attacks and threats by the Houthi terrorist militias have serious consequences for the global economy and international security."
He added: "The Houthi escalation inside Yemen and the continued Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, along with other military developments on the Yemeni coast overlooking the Red Sea, have pushed the conflict to a very dangerous turning point".
He expressed Pakistan's solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its people, affirming his country's full support for the Kingdom's legitimate right to take whatever is necessary to defend its lands and protect its citizens and resources from any threat.
Ahmed pointed out that the widening scope of Houthi attacks inside and around Bab el-Mandeb represents a serious escalation and threatens freedom of navigation and the safe, unhindered flow of trade and shipping.
