Aden - Saba
The Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Ahmed Ghalib, discussed with the Head of the European Union Mission to Yemen, Gabriel Munuera Viñales, and the ambassadors of France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Finland, the reform package that the central bank is implementing with the support of brotherly and friendly countries and international organizations.
The meeting also discussed the level of achievement and progress in implementing programs and plans related to upgrading the functions of the Central Bank and the banking sector.
The Governor of the Central Bank reviewed the latest developments and economic challenges in the country, especially in light of the cessation of oil and gas exports, the decline of resources, and the dwindling of foreign aid, and its negative impact on the humanitarian and service conditions of citizens, especially electricity, health and education services.
For their part, the European Union ambassadors renewed their emphasis on continued European support for the Central Bank, enabling it to carry out its vital functions independently and professionally to serve the economy and citizens in Yemen.
