[31/05/2022 06:45]

ADEN - SABA
President of the Presidential Leadership Council Rashad al-Alimi received Tuesday a telephone call from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres discussing with him latest developments in Yemen and chances of extending the truce as foundation for realizing peace and stability in Yemen.

During the call, President al-Alimi thanked the UN Secretary General for his efforts for extending the truce and alleviating suffering of Yemeni people, confirming support to all efforts for realizing just and inclusive peace in accordance with the local, regional and international references.

He reminded him with the initiative made by the Presidential Council to make the truce successful; including facilitations provided to ships of fuel to Hodeida Port and commercial flights from Sana'a Airport, which were faced by obstacles by Houthi militia supported by Iranian Regime.

He called for putting pressure on Houthi militia to honor its pledges led by opening Taiz's outlets and roads and paying salaries of government employees.

He confirmed necessity of correcting the position of the UN Mission to Support Hodeida Agreement and not to keep it under Houthi blackmail.

For his part, the UN Secretary General congratulated the President and Members of the Presidential Council for assuming power in Yemen, confirming UN support to plans of the council, including economic reforms and pledges in field of human rights.

He showed understandings of the Presidential Council and Government's reservations regarding failure of implementing all the truce's articles associated with opening Taiz's outlets and roads and in other provinces.

He praised efforts of the council and the government in honoring their commitments included in the truce and their active dealing with efforts of the UN envoy's efforts.

He praised presidential and governmental measures to ban recruiting children and alleviating humanitarian suffering.

He uttered commitment to exert pressure on Houthi militia to honor its pledges of opening Taiz's roads and make preparations for inclusive settlement in Yemen.
