[26/09/2025 06:15]

NEW YORK - SABA
Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr.Rashad al-Alimi, along with Council members Major General Aidaroos al-Zubaidi and Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi, met Friday with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher on the sidelines of the meetings of the eightieth session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting focused on humanitarian interventions and emergency relief work led by UN agencies in Yemen, and their coordinated efforts with the international community to mobilize the necessary funding for the humanitarian response plan, with the rise in levels of food insecurity, as a result of the decline in international funding, and the practices of the terrorist Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime.

The meeting touched on the systematic Houthi kidnapping campaign that targeted dozens
from civil society leaders, diplomatic missions, and United Nations employees, storming its headquarters and controlling its property, in addition to the ongoing threats to the humanitarian, relief and development community in areas controlled by terrorist militias.

President al-Alimi reiterated the Yemeni government's appreciation for the efforts of the United Nations aimed at alleviating the human suffering exacerbated by the Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping lines.

He stressed the need to intensify and coordinate efforts with the international community and exert maximum pressure on the Houthi militias to evacuate United Nations headquarters, return their property, and immediately and unconditionally release all detainees.

He also reiterated the need to move the main headquarters of United Nations agencies and international non-governmental organizations operating in Yemen to the temporary capital, Aden, to ensure a safe and stable environment for the work of these organizations and to continue providing their humanitarian and development services to those in real need in all governorates without discrimination or restrictions.

The President expressed the appreciation of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Government for the United Nations decision to move the Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator duty station from Sana'a to Aden, expressing his aspiration for further similar measures in this regard.
