His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) along with Council's Members Maj. General Aidaroos al-Zubaidi and Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi received today, Thursday, here the Acting Executive Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Haoliang Xu, on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

The talks focused on UN developmental interventions in several fields and the coordinated efforts with the international community to mobilize more funding for the most sustainable and effective programs to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people created by the Iranian regime backed terrorist Houthi militias.

The Chairman of the PLC highly appreciated the projects carried out by UNDP in Yemen, namely the food security response and resilience project and the renewable energy project, which have proved very helpful for the lives of the citizens.

His Excellency highlighted the need to focus on expanding the scope of the program's projects in the areas of food security, agricultural development, renewable energy, addressing climate change, social protection, technology and innovation and enhancing digital transformation and financial inclusion.

President al-Alimi touched on the gave violations by the terrorist Houthi militia against workers in humanitarian and relief organizations and international organizations.

He underscored the importance of establishing a joint mechanism to enhance the security and safety of humanitarian and developmental operations, ensuring the delivery of aid and protecting workers in areas under the control of the Houthi militias.

The Chairman of the PLC praised the UN's decision to move the office of the resident coordinator and humanitarian affairs coordinator from Sana'a to Aden.

He said that we hope that other UN agencies would follow suit and take tangible measures to relocate their headquarters.
