Saudi Arabia announces a proposal to end the Yemeni crisis, make peace

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia declared today an initiative aims to bring an end of the Yemeni crisis and reach a comprehensive political settlement.
The Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Frhan said in a press conference held today the proposition includes an overall cease-fire under the UN's supervision, depositing the proceeds of taxes and customs imposed on oil and fuels shipments at Hodeidah seaport in a joint bank account in the Central Bank of Yemen as stipulated in Stockholm Agreement about Hodeida, open Sana'a airport for a number of regional and international flights and initiate consultations between the Yemeni parties to reach a political settlement for the Yemeni crisis sponsored by the UN based on the UNSCR 2216, the GCC's Initiative, its operational mechanism and outcomes of the National Dialogue.
He added "This proposal comes within the framework of the continuous support for the efforts of the UN's Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths and the US Special Envoy to Yemen Timothy Lenderking and the constructive role of the Sultanate of Oman and to push the efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis under the UN sponsorship".
The Saudi Minister stated that this initiative offers the Houthis a chance to act wisely, stop Yemeni bloodshed and handle the humanitarian and economic hardships the Yemeni people have been struggling with, and to be partners in making the peace.
Frhan called on the Houthis to accept the proposition so that it can be carried out under the UN's monitoring and supervision.
