ADEN – SABA
Yemen’s Information Minister Miammar al-Eryani announced that security forces in Shabwa had arrested a 13-member Houthi cell and seized a truck loaded with weapons and explosives, along with two shipping containers inside a rented house used to receive smuggled arms shipments.
The seized items included approximately 500 automatic firearms, sniper rifles, artillery shells, explosives, drone bombs, and drone components.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the weapons were smuggled by sea through the coast of Rodum District for the benefit of the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
Al-Eryani praised the security forces for the operation, describing it as a major achievement in combating arms-smuggling networks and protecting Yemen’s security.
He also called on the international community to take concrete action to stop weapons supplies to the Houthis, strengthen cooperation with the Yemeni government, and support efforts to secure the country’s coastlines and international shipping routes.
