SHARM EL-SHEIKH-SABA
President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi praised the Swedish support for achieving peace in Yemen including by way of hosting the consultations that produced the "Stockholm Agreement" between the government and Houthis last December.
Hadi expressed this gratitude in a meeting with the Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven on the sideline of the EU-States of Arab League summit being held in the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh.
Hadi indicated that the understanding with the rebels regarding Hodeidah, as a product of the Stockholm Agreement, is a first step towards much-awaited peace in Yemen.
He said that he had directed the government to react positively to the Agreement despite the fact that the Houthi coupist militia have been deliberately delaying and avoiding the Agreement.
Hadi cited the government's payment of salaries to public employees in Houthi-held provinces despite the Houthi use of the revenues collected there to finance their anti-government war, as a sign of the government's unilateral pursuit of a solution to the conflict.
The Swedish official on his part appreciated Hadi's efforts and affirmed his government's commitment towards Yemen and helping the country overcome its crisis.
He affirmed Sweden's continuity to support Yemen in the humanitarian and developmental field.
