Washington, (Saba)- Yemen was and still a strategic ally with the United States in fighting terrorism, and the two storms of fitness and regaining hope have rescued Yemeni people from Houthi-Saleh Alliance's coup, Yemen's Ambassador to the United States Ahmad bin Mubarak has said.
Arab Coalition's interference has banned Yemen to change into a terrorist stop for the extremist groups and helped not transferring the conflict into sectarian, added bin Mubarak in a speech he delivered in a symposium entitled " Yemen: the Way Upward" held at Army and Marine Club here.
The symposium was organized by the Center of the Strategic Studies Center for the Near East and Southern Asia of US National Defense College in cooperation with Gulf Research Center and was participated by a number of officials, diplomats and researchers from Yemen, US, Gulf and Arab and other countries.
He noted that Yemen has been suffering and still suffer from terrorism and deter it in cooperation with international community and the United States and that President Hadi has launched fighting terrorism and its sources since 2012.
President Hadi issued directives to the government in 2012 to approve the national strategy for fighting terrorism then followed by formation of a ministerial committee to follow up implementation of this strategy, bin Mubarak said.
He clarified that the government has set up a national committee to follow up a center for requalification of extremists in Yemen and completion of fighting extremism programs, in cooperation with international partners and the United Nations.
But he confirmed that the coup (Houthi-Saleh's Alliance) curbed activities of this committee and halted its programs.
