RIYADH – SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, chaired a joint meeting on Friday with the governors of the governorates and the Supreme Security Committee, attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya Zindani.

The meeting was dedicated to reviewing the latest national developments at all levels, efforts to improve living conditions and basic services, strengthen the presence of state institutions, and consolidate security and stability.

The meeting also discussed recent developments, including what the government described as repeated Iranian violations of Yemen’s sovereignty and attempts by the Houthi terrorist militia to evade its internal crises and obligations by dragging the country into new battles that serve the agenda of its backers in Tehran.

The President emphasized the great national responsibility borne by local authority leaders at this critical and sensitive moment in the nation’s history.

He stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to address these developments, strengthen national unity among the Yemeni people across all governorates, maintain close coordination with the military, security, and intelligence agencies, and reinforce public confidence in state institutions.

He added, “Your responsibility today is to consolidate security and stability, strengthen the authority of the state, combat terrorism, smuggling, and corruption in all its forms, protect ports and sovereign border crossings, and enhance the efficiency of state institutions in improving the essential services provided to citizens.”

President al-Alimi also reviewed the measures and procedures taken by the state in response to the escalation by the Houthi militia and its supporters.

He affirmed that the government had addressed this escalation with the conduct expected of a state, rather than that of a militia, based on a clear understanding that the country's primary battle is to protect Yemen’s sovereignty and to rally regional and international support behind this cause, rather than being drawn into confrontations that would allow the coup forces to escape their mounting crises.

He stressed that every step taken by the state is aimed at protecting the interests of the Yemeni people and strengthening its political position, not at abandoning the country's national objectives, foremost among them ending the coup, which, he said, will remain a principal objective regardless of the sacrifices required.

In this context, the President welcomed the humanitarian initiative proposed by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to resume flights between Sana’a and Amman.

He stressed that the state's positive response to any initiative aimed at alleviating the suffering of citizens does not represent a retreat from its national objectives, acceptance of any infringement on its sovereignty, or the granting of legitimacy or political gains to the militia at the expense of state institutions.

He explained: “We are acting responsibly to address the needs of our people and are opening every possible window for peace and the alleviation of suffering."

At the same time, however, we will not relinquish the state's exclusive right to manage its airspace and airports, nor will we allow humanitarian initiatives to become a cover for imposing a new fait accompli, he said.
