ADEN - SABA
The European Union mission in Yemen announced the conclusion of the final phase of the joint program to enhance resilience in rural areas of Yemen, which has benefited more than 2.3 million people in eight governorates.
In a press statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the EU stated: "the program, which concluded its final phase in the temporary capital, Aden, provided support to communities affected by conflict over three consecutive phases from 2016 to 2025.
It utilized an integrated, multi-sectoral approach that supported livelihoods, improved food security, expanded access to renewable energy, and enhanced climate adaptation while promoting inclusive governance and social cohesion."
The statement added: "The program, funded by the European Union and the Government of Sweden, helped over 130,000 people improve food production, supported more than 60,000 farmers in modernizing agricultural practices, created over 12,000 jobs through infrastructure projects and cash-for-work initiatives, and launched more than 8,000 small businesses—38% of which are women-owned. Additionally, 11,000 youth and women gained skills needed in the labor market."
Gabriel Monuera Vinyals, the EU Ambassador to Yemen, affirmed that the European Union has stood alongside the Yemeni people through the joint program to enhance resilience in rural areas of Yemen (ERRY) for nearly a decade, dedicating efforts to resilience, livelihoods, and long-term peacebuilding.
He reiterated the EU's commitment to continue supporting the Yemeni people on their path toward a more resilient and peaceful future.
