The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, arrived in Moscow on Tuesday for an official visit to the Russian Federation at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Upon arrival at Vnukovo Airport, Dr. al-Alimi was greeted by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, Yemeni Ambassador to Russia Ahmed al-Wuhayshi, and members of the embassy.
The ceremony included the playing of the national anthems of both countries and a guard of honor.
During his visit, Dr. al-Alimi will hold talks with President Putin to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and coordinate positions on issues of mutual interest.
The discussions will focus on recent developments in Yemen and the region, including efforts to achieve peace and stability.
The visit will also include meetings with senior officials in the State Duma and the Russian government, as well as other key figures interested in Yemen's cultural and intellectual heritage.
Dr. al-Alimi praised the long-standing relations between Yemen and Russia, which date back nearly a century.
He expressed appreciation for Russia's consistent support for the Yemeni people and its leadership, and confidence that the visit will open new avenues for fruitful cooperation and coordination in the interest of both nations.
