Yemen's Ambassador to Japan, Adel Al-Sunaini, met with Japanese lawmaker Tanaka Masashi on Monday to discuss closer political, economic, development, and parliamentary cooperation, as well as the latest developments in Yemen.

Tanaka is a member of Japan's House of Representatives and serves on the International Bureau of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party.

Al-Sunaini praised Japan's longstanding support for Yemen and highlighted the depth of bilateral relations, reaffirming Yemen's commitment to broadening its strategic partnership with Tokyo.

He briefed the Japanese lawmaker on the country's political, economic, and humanitarian situation, outlining the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to restore state institutions and stabilize conditions. He also underscored the need for continued Japanese and international support for Yemen's development and reconstruction programs, as well as enhanced cooperation on maritime security in response to threats posed by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia to international shipping and global supply chains in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Masashi reaffirmed Japan's support for Yemen's unity, sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity, along with its continued backing for the Yemeni government and people.

He also reiterated Japan's support for regional and international efforts to achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace, end the suffering of the Yemeni people, and promote security and stability in Yemen and across the region.
