WASHINGTON - SABA
Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen Ahmed Ghaleb discussed Friday with a delegation from the U.S. Federal Reserve cooperation relations and ways to enhance them.
The meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the 2024 annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank currently taking place in Washington, D.C, addressed the banking services provided by the Federal Reserve to the Central Bank of Yemen and assistance in building the capacities of its staff in various functions, enabling them to perform their duties with high professionalism and serve the Yemeni banking sector effectively.
In another meeting, the Governor of the Central Bank discussed with the U.S. Treasury team cooperation in combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism, upgrading the operations of the banking sector, and enhancing the Central Bank's capabilities in overseeing and supervising banks.
This would enable the Central Bank and the banking sector to fulfill Yemen's commitments in combating money laundering and financing terrorism, as well as facilitate the Yemeni banking sector's access to the global financial system.
