MARIB-SABA
The local government in Yemen's eastern Marib province is set to assist villagers displaced by the Houthis in the voluntary return to their villages after the Houthi militants were driven out by the army in recent weeks.
Deputy Governor of Marib Abd-Rabbu Miftah held a meeting with the leadership of the local authority of Rahabah to re-normalize life including the reconnection of basic services and reconstruction of war-torn public premises in the outlying district, to facilitate for the IDPs' return.
The meeting assessed the damage left by the terrorists and discussed the urgent interventions needed to repair public offices, rehabilitate the main hospital and schools there, reconnect water and electricity, repair roads, and re-supply fuel products to that rural area.
The meeting cautioned the returnees to be aware of the hazard of ubiquitously planted landmines, and called on the international aid organizations to help the villagers returning home.
