Yemen calls on the UNSC to condemn terrorist attack targeted the government at Aden airport

The Yemeni Government called on Thursday the International Security Council to condemn the terrorist attack that aimed to kill the government's members as it arrived at Aden airport on Wednesday December 30,2020, followed by one more attack by unmanned aerial vehicle target al-Ma'shiq palace, the government headquarters, as the investigations into the attack categorically proved that the terrorist attacks were planned and carried out by Iran-backed Houthi militia.

Addressing via video conference the International Security Council's open session held today about the situation in the Middle East Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ahmed Awadh bin Mubark said" I do call on your respected council to plainly condemn that terrorist attack,.. and to take firm stance to deal with heinous and bloody crime which is inconsistent with all humanitarian values, International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law, and to hold the perpetrators to account".

He re-welcomed the US administration's recent decision about the designation Houthi militia a terrorist organization. He stated that this decision is in consistent with the Yemeni government's requests and the Yemeni peoples' consensus and it asserts the terrorist nature of this group and its constant attempts to prolong the war, caused one of the world's worst humanitarian disaster.

He has made it clear that the Yemeni government is very keen to ease the actions of all international agencies and organizations, commercial and banking corporates to ensure easily follow of the aids and commodities to the whole of Yemeni people. He stated that the Prime Minister has already establishing a high rank government committee tasked with this mission.

He also reinstated that the government will continue to deal constructively with all sincere initiatives and calls to, eliminate the coup and achieve peace and the government. He stated that we do support the efforts of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths to reach a comprehensive and sustainable peace that is based on the GCC's Initiative, its executive mechanism, outcomes of National Dialogue and the UNSCR's resolutions in relevance, namely 2216.
