The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced today the designation of 21 individuals and entities, as well as the identification of one vessel, on the sanctions list for their involvement in transporting petroleum products, purchasing weapons and equipment and providing financial services to the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince receives Yemen's Parliament Speaker

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, received the Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani here today. Al-Barakani praised Emirati leaders, at the forerun of whom is His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, for their rush to the rescue of the Yemeni people from the coup militias and provision of military as well as political, economic and humanitarian support to Yemen.

He hailed the sacrifices of the UAE with Saudi Arabia in defending Yemen which resembles a gate to the region.
For his part, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed said: "Maintaining the security and stability of Yemen and supporting its brotherly people and supporting them in various circumstances is one of the firm principles of the UAE since the era of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan."

He pointed out that Yemen is of strategic importance for the Arab security. He stressed the UAE's desire for peace to prevail on all Yemeni soil and for the government institutions to return to function in an atmosphere of security and stability. He stressed that the historic brotherly ties between the two countries push the UAE towards completing efforts to restore security and stability in Yemen.

The two sides stressed the imperative of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries based on the principles of brotherhood and shared destiny.

They reviewed the prospects of achieving peace in Yemen based on the three terms of reference, including the UN Security Council resolutions, particularly resolution 2216.

They also recounted the Houthi militia's obstacles put in the way of implementing the peace deals, foremost of which is the Stockholm Agreement of December.
