Government criticizes HCHR for silence on Houthi crimes in Hajour

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad al-Hadhrami discussed on Wednesday with Deputy Representative of the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights Abeer al-Kharisha preparations for opening an office in the transitional capital Aden.
The two parties also discussed cooperation between the government and the commission for boosting and protecting human rights in Yemen and unearthing Houthi Crimes.
"The government of Yemen depends on the Office of the High Commission for Human Rights and holds it responsible over silences on crimes committed by Houthi militia in Yemen in general and in Hajour area, Hajja Province in particular," said al-Hadhrami.
"The United Nations should shoulder its responsibility and did not turn a blind eye to crimes committed by Houthi militia against human rights in Hajour; illegal killing, kidnapping innocent and displacing and destroying houses of civilians," he said.
He stressed relocation of the commission's office into Aden for boosting its role and protecting human rights in Yemen, confirming that the government will provide all facilitations needed for opening the office.
He renewed government's keenness and commitment of the UN Charter's goals and principles and other international accords associated with human rights.
For her part, the UN official confirmed desire of the commission on opening an office to it in the transitional capital of Aden as soon as possible.
She expressed aspirations for cooperation between the government and the regional office for boosting and protecting human rights in Yemen and resuming its activities in liberated areas.
