RIYADH-SABA
The missile attacks by Houthis against Saudi Arabia on Sunday has drawn worldwide condemnation and inferences that the Iran-backed rebel militia does not believe in peace.

Saudi Arabia said on Sunday evening that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed seven ballistic missiles fired by Houthi rebels in Yemen.

The US State Department said: "We support our Saudi partners in defending their borders."

A statement issued by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry in Islamabad said that Pakistan "strongly condemns these attacks and affirms that the government and people of Pakistan stand with Saudi Arabia against any threats to its territorial integrity."

A statement issued by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Monday said the "Egyptian government and people stand with the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of such brutal attacks targeting the security and stability of the Kingdom." The statement expressed its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to maintain its security and the safety of its people.

It said the attack will only increase the resolve of the Arab coalition countries to restore the legitimate government in Yemen, and intensify their efforts to combat terrorism in the region.

In a statement, the Shura Council in Bahrain called this "a criminal act which targeted the security and safety of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."

The spokesman of the Secretary-General of the Arab League Mahmoud Afifi said in a statement that the launch of these missiles underscores the determination of the rebel militia and coup supporters to destabilize the security and stability of the Kingdom.

He said that such criminal acts constitute a clear violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

"We strongly condemn the launching of ballistic missiles by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia," Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mishal bin Fahm al-Salami said in a statement.

The official spokesman of the Jordanian government, the Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammed al-Momani said in a press statement that "Jordan stands with Saudi Arabia in its response to the repeated attacks on the Houthi militia."

Momani reiterated his country's support for the Saudi efforts to preserve their national security and support the government of Yemen.

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization called the attack "an act of terrorism" and " a crime against humanity, with the aim of causing severe damage to populated civilian areas.

The organization called on its member States to take a firm stand toward Houthis and "those who provide this terrorist militia with missiles, … and military expertise."

In a statement, al-Azhar University expressed its total rejection of such attacks targeting safe civilian areas, reiterating full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its leadership, government and people.

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdul Latif al-Zayani condemned the attack describing as "a cowardly act of terrorism, targeting the civilian population and endangering their security."

He called for the speedy implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2216, which calls for the disarmament of the Houthi militia and the extension of the Yemeni government's authority over the entire Yemeni territories.
