CAIRO-SABA
The Secretary General of the Arab League has called on the international community, especially relief organizations, to act promptly to spare Yemen a humanitarian disaster of heavy deep impact.
In a statement, Ahmed Abu Elgheit expressed his concern about reports from the international organizations, mainly the WHO, on deteriorations in the humanitarian situation in Yemen, a result the health services collapse and the spread of cholera in several provinces.
"The current situation requires a serious stand and an urgent effective intervention to set a limit to the deteriorations that are claiming the lives of thousands of Yemenis," he said.
Stability in Yemen "cannot be fully achieved except through an over-arching political settlement resting on the UNSC resolution no. 2216, the outcomes of the National Dialogue and the term of the GCC –brokered Initiative."
"It is high time for the coup militias to realize that their tight cling to power is devastating their country and threatening the lives of millions of innocent Yemenis. To realize that they are the responsible for what Yemen ended up like, in all arenas/aspects," Abu Elgheit said..
