The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Afrah al-Zouba stated that the Republic of Yemen is keenly seeking to boost bilateral relations, cooperation and partnership with the People's Republic of China to serve the mutual interests of the two countries.

She celebrated the long-standing constructive Yemeni-Chinese friendship relations during her talks today, Tuesday, with the Chargé d' Affaires of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Yemen Zhao Zheng.

Al-Zouba and Zheng underscored the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Yemeni-Chinese diplomatic relations, which falls this year, as an important occasion to further push joint cooperation to broader horizons to serve the common interests of the two friendly peoples.

"The Yemeni government is very interested in furthering cooperative relationship and partnership with the People's Republic of China. We're very keen to establish active economic partnership with our Chinese friends to serve the mutual interests", al-Zouba said.

The talks addressed joint cooperation to support the electricity sector in the temporary capital Aden and explored the possibility of expanding cooperation to include energy, infrastructure, training and capacity-building.

The Chinese chargé d’ affaires confirmed Beijing's support for His Excellency Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, the government and for Yemen's unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

He also reaffirmed China's support for the UN Security Council resolutions related to Yemen, including Resolution 2216, emphasizing his country's concern for navigation security and freedom of trade in the Red Sea.
