A coordination meeting in Aden on Monday reviewed efforts to strengthen the humanitarian response to the growing number of displaced families and improve coordination among government agencies, UN and international organizations, and humanitarian partners.

Chaired by Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Nizar Basuhyab, the meeting focused on unifying displacement figures and data on humanitarian interventions to improve needs assessment, targeting, and aid delivery.

Participants reviewed the latest humanitarian developments resulting from the continued influx of displaced families into several governorates, along with mechanisms to address mounting needs in host communities.

The meeting also discussed developing a unified plan to respond to displacement waves and regularly updating data on displaced families. It reviewed humanitarian interventions carried out by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) during August and September, including the types of assistance provided, targeted areas and beneficiaries, as well as gaps, challenges and priority needs.

The meeting stressed the importance of coordinated UN and international efforts to mitigate the humanitarian impact of displacement from the western coast, provide food and shelter assistance, and accelerate emergency support as the continued influx of displaced families places increasing pressure on host communities.
