Foreign Minister and Expatriates Dr. Afrah al-Zouba discussed today with Acting UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen Laurent Bukera the latest developments and the repercussions of the recent escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi militia, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation between the Yemeni government and the United Nations to address humanitarian and development needs.

Yemen Participates in Preparatory Meeting for 63rd Human Rights Council Session

Yemen today participated in the organizational meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva to prepare for the Council’s 63rd regular session, scheduled for September 7 to October 2, 2026.

The Yemeni delegation was headed by Permanent Representative to the UN Office and international organizations in Geneva Ambassador Dr. Ali Mojawar.

The meeting reviewed organizational and logistical arrangements and the programme of work for the upcoming session, along with measures to improve time and resource management amid the UN Secretariat’s ongoing financial and liquidity crisis.

Representing the Arab Group, Sudan announced plans to submit a draft resolution under Item 10 on providing support, technical assistance and capacity-building to Yemen, aimed at strengthening the capacities of national human rights institutions and the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights.
