The Yemen Religious Scholars’ Association has voiced support for President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and his announcement of the launch of Operation Yemen Dawn, describing it as a long-awaited response to the Yemeni people’s call to end years of oppression.
In a statement on the operation and its call for Yemenis to rally behind the armed forces, the association said the battle was aimed at protecting the five essential values recognized by Islamic law: religion, life, reason, honor and property.
It accused the Houthi militia of violating those values through sectarian indoctrination, killing, arbitrary detention, attacks on social values, and the seizure of salaries, property and other assets, saying its record was marked by abuses and the displacement of thousands of Yemenis.
The association said the launch of the operation represented a moment to end Houthi rule and urged Yemenis who seek dignity and sovereignty to support efforts to restore the state.
It praised the armed forces for their advances on various fronts and commended troops fighting in the western coast, Taiz, Marib, Al-Jawf, Al-Bayda and Hajjah, while praying for those killed and wounded.
The association also called on Yemenis to support the armed forces and resistance fighters, describing continued mobilization and general enlistment as necessary to restore state institutions and defeat the Houthi project.
It praised the Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy for its continued support to the armed forces.
At the same time, the association urged strict adherence to President al-Alimi’s instructions against revenge and retaliation, stressing that Islamic law requires justice even toward opponents. It called for the protection of prisoners, bodies, homes and civilians, warning against allowing hatred to undermine the victory sought in the name of God.
The association also praised the armed forces for their treatment of prisoners in accordance with Islamic principles and values, saying their conduct demonstrated the distinction between an army committed to a cause and an armed group pursuing aggression.
It urged scholars, preachers and imams to promote resilience and patience, protect society from rumors and disinformation, and foster unity around what it described as the truth.
