[29/07/2026 01:14]

ADEN – SABA
Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training, Dr. Anwar al-Mahri discussed Wednesday with the Coordinator of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Zubeyir Yaka Yılmaz, and the Head of the Turkish Red Crescent Mission in Yemen, Ahmed Korkmaz ways of strengthening cooperation and partnership in support of the technical education and vocational training sector in Yemen.

The meeting, attended by the Ministry's Undersecretary for Standards and Quality, Dr. Ahmed Kulaib, addressed several issues related to the needs of the technical and vocational education sector, opportunities to improve educational and training infrastructure and efforts to enhance the capacities of vocational and technical institutes as well as community colleges.

These initiatives aim to improve the quality of educational outcomes and align them with labor market requirements.

Minister al-Mahri reviewed the current state of the technical education and vocational training sector, highlighting its pivotal role in preparing young people and equipping them with the vocational and technical skills required by local and regional labor markets.

He emphasized that the sector is one of the key pillars supporting economic and social development, contributing directly to reducing unemployment and creating sustainable employment opportunities for youth.

He also noted that the technical education sector has faced numerous challenges in recent years as a result of the war ignited by the Houthi terrorist militia, which has adversely affected the infrastructure, equipment, and training programs of several educational institutions.

The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to attracting further support and assistance to implement development projects aimed at modernizing curricula and training programs, upgrading the qualifications of teaching and training staff, and equipping workshops and laboratories with modern facilities.

For their part, the Turkish representatives reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the technical education and vocational training sector, describing it as one of the vital sectors capable of addressing unemployment and empowering young people with the skills demanded by the labor market.

They also expressed their readiness to explore possible areas of intervention in technical education institutions, in line with available resources, to strengthen their capacities and improve the quality of their educational and training outcomes.
